Radiesse® in Huntersville, NC
Young skin has an abundance of collagen that provides elasticity and volume. Aging skin suffers because collagen production decreases. Without the vital underlying structure of collagen, your skin is thinner and hangs along your contours. This is how lines and wrinkles develop. Pure Facial Plastic Surgery offers Radiesse® treatments to restore collagen levels and give your skin enhanced volume to soften lines and wrinkles. Dr. Briggs E. Cook, Jr., a board-certified Huntersville surgeon who specializes in facial plastic surgery, and Denise Curtis, PA offer Radiesse® treatments to patients in Charlotte and nearby towns.
What is Radiesse®?
Many dermal fillers and injectables are available to treat mild lines and wrinkles, but Radiesse® is specifically designed to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and creases. The product works by providing an underlying structure of microspheres in the deeper layers of skin. The structure provides support to the skin, and also promotes collagen production. Collagen fills in the lattice of microspheres to enhance a smooth and younger skin texture.
Benefits of Radiesse®
A few of the unique benefits of Radiesse® include:
- Contains only natural ingredients that are found in healthy skin (calcium hydroxylapatite)
- Completely non-allergenic
- Short treatment times with long-lasting results (up to two years)
- Minimal downtime required
- Immediate results with gradual improvements over three months
- No sudden or dramatic changes in your appearance
What is Radiesse® Used For?
Dr. Cook and Denise Curtis, PA recommend Radiesse® for people between 35 to 60 years old who want non-surgical options for:
- Marionette lines
- Nasolabial folds
- Smile and frown lines
- Enhancements to the chin, cheeks, jawline and nose
Radiesse® is also effective for restoring facial volume in patients with facial lipoatrophy, a loss of facial fat contouring due to certain medical conditions.
How Does Radiesse® Compare to Other Dermal Fillers and Injectables?
Radiesse® offers advantages over other dermal fillers and injectables, such as Restylane®. Radiesse® is clinically proven to give people longer-lasting results, up to two years compared to Restylane® treatments that should be repeated every six months. Radiesse® stimulates natural collagen production, so your skin essentially repairs itself. Radiesse® is not for everyone, so you should discuss your options with Dr. Cook or Denise Curtis, PA.
What Should I Expect From Radiesse® Treatments?
Your Radiesse® treatment will take 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated. Local anesthesia is administered to the treatment areas to alleviate any discomfort with the injections. Dr. Cook or Denise Curtis, PA inserts a very fine, small gauge needle into the appropriate layer of your skin and slowly injects the Radiesse® product.
You will see some improvement after your appointment. Over the next two to three weeks, watch the lines and creases disappear as your skin produces more collagen. In most cases, follow-up treatments are not required before one to two years after the initial treatment.
You may experience some minor symptoms after your Radiesse® injections, largely due to the injection itself and not the product. Common symptoms are slight bleeding, bruising, tenderness and swelling. You may be able to reduce these symptoms by avoiding alcohol for at least two days before treatment. Anti-inflammatory medications increase your risk for these symptoms, so you can speak with your doctor about temporarily stopping them.
What Should my Physician Explain to me About Radiesse® Treatments?
Radiesse® is FDA-approved, and the product is safe and effective when administered by an experienced, professional medical practitioner.
Radiesse® contains only natural ingredients, so allergic reactions are very rare, but not impossible. Please discuss any history of allergies and other medical conditions. Radiesse® is also not recommended for patients with bleeding disorders.
Radiesse® should not be injected into areas with infections or inflammation, and the product should never be injected into blood vessels. If you have a CT scan, the microspheres may be visible, so you should advise your medical care team of your Radiesse® treatments.
The results of Radiesse® treatments on patients with excessive scarring and keloids are unknown.
Radiesse® is delivered to qualified medical practitioners in single-use syringes of various volumes. Under no circumstances should a single syringe be used across multiple patients.
To achieve optimum results from your Radiesse® treatments, entrust your care to Dr. Cook and the staff of Pure Facial Plastic Surgery.
How Much Does Radiesse® Cost?
The cost of Radiesse® treatment is based on the number and size of syringes that are needed for best results. Pure Facial Plastic Surgery accepts checks, cash, and major credit cards. Financing is available through Alphaeon™ Credit.
