Restylane® in Huntersville, NC
Restylane® changes how you think of anti-aging treatments. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® not only reduces your lines and wrinkles, but may also slow the aging process. Dr. Briggs E. Cook, Jr., a board-certified Huntersville surgeon who specializes in facial plastic surgery, and Denise Curtis, PA have helped hundreds of people just like you have an advantage over aging. At Pure Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer Restylane® and other advanced cosmetic treatments to the residents of Charlotte and nearby towns.
What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a gel-based injectable treatment that contains hyaluronic acid, or HA. HA is one of the greatest secrets behind young skin. HA attracts and binds with water to keep the skin hydrated and free of lines and wrinkles. As we get older, our bodies produce less HA, so your skin does not have the same hydration as when you were younger. Without much-needed water, your skin “collapses” into lines, wrinkles, folds and creases. Restylane® replenishes the HA in your skin to add hydration in the deep layers where wrinkles begin. The water “plumps” your skin and “fills in” the lines, creases, wrinkles and folds.
Benefits of Restylane®
Restylane® is recommended for those who do not need or want surgery, or as a complementary treatment in conjunction with surgery. Some benefits are:
- Treatment only takes 15 to 60 minutes
- No downtime when performed as a stand-alone treatment
- All natural, no animal-based products
- Over time, HA is naturally absorbed by the body
- Results last up to 12 months
What is Restylane® Used For?
Restylane® is recommended for treating facial creases, folds and small wrinkles, such as:
- Lines around the mouth
- Laugh lines
- Marionette lines
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
Dr. Cook or Denise Curtis, PA may recommend Restylane® to:
- Reduce under-eye sagging
- Enhance cheek contours, lips, and chin
What Should I Expect From Restylane® Treatments?
The consistency of the Restylane® product allows for injections with a very fine gauge needle. Even patients who are uncomfortable with immunizations find the injections quite tolerable. We can use a small amount of numbing ointment, if needed. Dr. Cook or Denise Curtis, PA determines the best sites for injecting Restylane® into the deep layers of skin. You may feel a slight pressure as the product is injected. Several injections are required to give you the full benefits of the product.
Most people achieve excellent results with just one treatment, but it is possible that Dr. Cook or Denise Curtis, PA may want to do a follow-up treatment. You see immediate improvements after your first appointment. Over time, the HA works to add fullness to your skin, and wrinkles, creases, and folds slowly disappear.
The most common symptoms after Restylane® treatments result from the injections, such as mild bleeding, bruising, tenderness and swelling. If you avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory medications for at least one week before your Restylane® treatment, you may reduce the chances of developing these symptoms.
The HA in Restylane® continues to improve your skin for up to one year. The HA is naturally absorbed by your body, so we recommend maintenance treatments at 10 to 12 months.
