Neck Lift in Huntersville, NC
The effects of aging are prominent on your neck and jawline. Lax skin, malpositioned fat, and banding all add years to your appearance. Many people in and around Charlotte do what they can to hide the areas with clothing, but that is difficult to do in the North Carolina climate. Board-certified Huntersville surgeon Briggs E. Cook, Jr., specializes in facial plastic surgery, and offers an alternative approach — neck lift surgery.
What is a Neck Lift?
Cosmetic surgery on the neck and jaw line restores the natural contours and eliminates sagging skin. The procedure is recommended for those who have skin folds under the chin and creases and folds on the neck. Dr. Cook specializes in the most advanced surgical techniques for neck lifts, and his expertise in the procedure is unparalleled in the Charlotte area. His patients feel confident before and after the procedure.
Benefits of a Neck Lift
Pure Facial Plastic Surgery offers neck lift surgery to people who have unattractive neck areas and jaw lines due to aging and weight loss. The surgery:
- Highlights the natural contours of the jaw lines and neck area
- Removes excess skin that causes “turkey waddle”
- Reduces the skin and fat along the jaw line
- Eliminates double and triple chins
When Should I Have a Neck Lift?
The time to have a neck lift is very individualized, but Dr. Cook does look for some common indicators across his patients. You should have a neck lift if you:
- Are between 40 and 80 years old
- Have adequate skin elasticity in the neck and jaw line
- Notice signs of aging on the neck and jaw line, which may include damage from the sun
- Are in good overall health
- Have realistic expectations of the neck lift surgery
What Should I Expect From a Neck Lift?
Neck lift surgery takes between two and three hours. A combination of local anesthesia and a sedative will be given to the patient. Dr. Cook makes incisions under the chin and behind the ears where the scars will be well hidden. Next, he pulls the skin and soft tissue tight. He may also tighten the underlying muscles and suture them in place. Excess skin and fat are trimmed, and the incisions are closed with sutures.
You will not see the results right after the surgery because the skin and soft tissue need time to anchor into their new position. Full healing takes up to six months. Right after the surgery, you will have discomfort, bruising, swelling, tenderness and a feeling of tightness, and may also experience tingling and numbness. Over-the-counter remedies are adequate in many cases, but Dr. Cook can prescribe medication if needed.
We recommend that you plan ahead and take one to two weeks off of work. Rest is very important to your recovery and healing. You should only wear loose-fitting shirts that do not have to be pulled over your head. Your activities should remain light until three weeks after the surgery, and then you can gradually increase your activity level.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Neck lift surgery is considered permanent, but the procedure cannot stop the aging process. Also, if you do not follow a healthy lifestyle, the results may be more short-term than patients who eat properly, exercise and refrain from smoking and alcohol consumption.
How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost?
Neck lift surgery is an elective cosmetic procedure, so it is not covered by insurance. You may pay for your neck lift and other treatments by cash, personal check, major credit card and Alphaeon™ Credit financing.
